Downtown Wilkes-Barre and the Man of Steel are making their big comebacks at the same time.
The long-awaited movie theater will open to the public on June 30, the same night that "Superman Returns" starts showing in cinemas across the country.
J. Wayne Anderson of R/C Theatres, the cinema operator, said he wasn't sure which movies would be played on June 30, the official public opening. "Superman Returns" is the featured flick on the R/C Theatres Web site for that date and a check of movie premier dates shows that "The Devil Wears Prada" starring Meryl Streep also is scheduled to open that night.
Anderson said a private showing is scheduled for Thursday, June 29, to coincide with a gala affair to be held at the new moviehouse at Northampton and South Main streets.
